Important 2026 Viewing Blind Changes

Blind locations may change:

View the updated Directions to Blinds here on or after March 31st. Leks are dynamic and expanding with the growing population. DNR needs to scout for birds in March to ensure the best viewing opportunities. Reduce lek disturbances by using town roads; follow directions and no driving within the property.

Explanation from the Wisconsin DNR Wildlife Management (Nancy Christel):

For our regular viewers: The south lek will be used the same as in the past and identified as Lek 3. The north lek has only had about 5 dancing males for the last couple years as they have been expanding and moving to other leks. It would be nice to offer public viewing at a lek with more action. The east lek still has had a lot dancing males, but is poorly located for public viewing being that it is now located in the middle of the property. You may have notices that our globally rare pine-oak barrens habitat has expanded to the north and east as it is now established on the 1,400-acre addition. This means that newly established leks are constantly being disturbed as viewers drive daily to and from the east lek. Once the March surveys are completed, I will assess our options and determine which leks we will offer for public viewing. My goal is to give you the best show while giving our sharp-tailed grouse the best breeding opportunities.
